Google's Position on IndexNow
Google is not currently participating in the IndexNow protocol. However, it has expressed interest in testing the protocol to improve web crawling efficiency. Despite this, Google relies on its own indexing mechanisms and APIs for specific types of content.
How IndexNow Works
IndexNow is an open-source protocol that allows web publishers to notify search engines about updates to their website content. This notification helps search engines prioritize crawling and indexing of updated URLs, making the process more efficient than traditional crawling methods.
